Novels
This was Rizal's most famous novel. He finished writing it in December of 1886 and was later published in Berlin.
"Noli Me Tángere" (latin) translates to "Touch Me Not" and refers to John 20:17 in the Bible where Mary Magdalene tried to touch the newly risen Jesus, He said "Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father." This novel exposes the injustices of the Spanish Catholic priests and the ruling government. In result, Rizal is charged for sedition a few years after its publication. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
This was Rizal's second novel and a sequel to "Noli Me Tángere." Like "Noli Me Tángere," this novel was originally written in Spanish. It was published in 1891 in Ghent, Belgium. The title translates to "The Reign of Greed." The novel continues on the same plot line of "Noli Me Tángere" 13 years from where the story left off.
